Middle East Peace Project

Bringing PEACE to the Middle East

The Middle East Peace Project is a short- and long-term plan to provide yoga education and teacher training to the people of the Middle East. Our core purpose is to develop yoga as an ethical exercise and a common, non-religious, unifying principle in troubled regions.

We want to show, that in a climate of animosity and terror, an alternative exists.

This alternative is the non-dual practice and understanding of yoga, in which we are all connected to each other and to our source. We are presently sponsoring yoga teacher training that allows teachers to set up their own teacher training in their local communities. Through adapting yoga to individual needs, health, age and cultural backgrounds, we are bringing strength and comfort to many living in this troubled region.

The Peace Project trains and nurtures aspiring teachers from conflict zones around the world, regardless of the ability to pay. The training gives them the tools and techniques necessary to teach others authentic yoga. Teachers interpret these teachings in a way that makes sense in their home country. Authentic Yoga practice does not contradict or seek to supplant religious and cultural customs in any way, and is a perfect vehicle to assist in fostering understanding and commonality between varied ethnic and national sect.

“Even in climates of animosity, terror and warfare, an alternative exists: an understanding that we all are connected to each other and to Source. By creating communities with common values and developing conscious awareness, false barriers are removed and individual change can occur. Yoga is hope for humanity.”
